Coach Vegas McCain

Varsity Boys Soccer Coach

Coach Vegas McCain is in his first year with the Apalachee Soccer program. Before coming to
Apalachee High School, Coach McCain was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Lambert High
School for ten years where he helped win several 7A State Championships.
Prior to going to Lambert High School, he was the Head Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer coach at
Howard High School in Macon, Georgia. He led both the Howard High School Boys and Girls
varsity teams to three straight state playoffs and two sweet 16 finishes. He left Howard High
School after three years with a record of 79-24-4.


Club Coaching Experience


Coach McCain started coaching soccer in 1983 in Wuerzburg, Germany and has coached soccer
in Germany, California, Hawaii, and Georgia.  He has coached all levels of soccer from U-4
through U-19 Boys Classic and Girls Athena.  He has also served as the Vice-President of the
Griffin Excel Soccer Club, in Griffin, Georgia. He is a graduate of the FC Barcelona and
Everton Coaching Courses and holds a National C license, and a Goal Keeper 2 license


Education and Certification


Coach McCain retired from the United States Army after serving 26 years. While in the U.S.
Army, Coach McCain obtained a BA in Political Science from Georgia State University, a MA
in Political Science from American Military University, a gifted in-field endorsement from North
Georgia University and an endorsement in Advanced United States History from Kennesaw State
University.


Family


Coach McCain is married and has four sons that all played college soccer.
